    Child's Play 2010 children's hospitals worldwide map
The annual Child’s Play charity, which raises money to give toys, videogames and other needy items to children’s hospitals, has already exceeded their one million dollar goal for 2010 with two weeks still to spare before Christmas.

The total now stands at $1.18 million dollars raised by gamers everywhere which will go towards the toy drives for kid’s hospitals worldwide, from the United States to Egypt, Canada, New Zealand, Britain and Australia.

2009′s total was $1,780,000 so there is still a ways to go to beat last year’s earnings, but hopefully gamers will pull through.

A big boost for the 2010 total came from a charity auction in Seattle that auctioned off many one-of-a-kind items from developers and publishers worldwide. The auction was a resounding success and raised $183,000.

Be sure to donate to the Child’s Play charity today if you are able, and help give kids everywhere a Merry Christmas.

The Child’s Play Charity was founded by Penny Arcade creators Mike Krahulik and Jerry Holkins.

Now here is an awesome video of a real-life Halo 3: ODST helmet that was created specifically to be auctioned off for the Child’s Play charity. Whoever got the winning bid is one HECK of a lucky Halo fan!

  • Thatgamecompany’s 3rd game Journey announced for PS3 with first trailer

Journey game PSN screenshot from thatgamecompany
The first trailer for Journey has been revealed. If you haven’t heard of the game before, it’s the next title from ThatGameCompany, creators of critical darlings FlOw and Flower.

Like those previous games this one too is a PlayStation 3 exclusive via the PlayStation Network.

Journey is a very unique game in which players traverse barren landscapes for an as of yet unknown goal with only the ability to explore and . . . sing, which can alert you to the presence of other people playing online on their own journey’s of discovery.

The trailer shows gameplay footage for the first time, and the game looks just like it did in screenshots, which is beautiful and atmospheric.

This is a game that has real deep meaning hidden behind the simple gameplay, as the game was inspired by the sense of loneliness that astronauts who have walked the moon felt. An idea the creator decided to explore due to his conversations with people who knew those lucky few who had achieved the crown achievement of exploration and lived to tell the tale.

    Here is the official trailer.
